1920s

An advertisement dating back to the 1920s for Pella Rolscreens.

    1925 – Pete and Lucille Kuyper invest in a Des Moines, Iowa based company producing the Rolscreen® retractable screen.

    The original Pella manufacturing building located in Pella, Iowa, dated 1926.

      1926 – The company moves to Pella, Iowa where it is still based today.

      1930s

      1930s

      Pella-redesigned venetian blinds are advertised in the 1930s.

        1934 – Redesigned venetian blinds are granted a new patent.

        A 1937-released Pella Deluxe Casement window advertisement featuring two women standing by the window.

          1937 – Pella debuts its first window, the Deluxe Casement window with a built-in Rolscreen and numerous other features.

          1940s

          1940s

          A group of women working in manufacturing during the 1940s when there were labor shortages due to the war.

            1943 – Amid wartime labor shortages, half of factory workers were women who were paid the same wage as men.

            1950s

            1950s

            In the 1950s Pella released the wood folding door, as seen in this historical image of a woman operating the door.

              1951 – The Pella Wood Folding Door is released, featuring wood-laminated panels hinged by torsion springs.

              1960s

              1960s

              A Pella wood double-hung window that tilts is first released in 1964.

                1964 – Invention of the industry's first tilting double-hung window for easy cleaning.

                A 1965 ad featuring Pella Slimshade Blinds and Pleated Shades.

                  1965 – The world's first window with blinds tucked between the glass, Pella Slimshade blinds, is invented.

                  A 1970s floor display featuring the new Pella aluminum-clad products.

                    1971 – The company introduces its first aluminum-clad window and door product line with pivot, casement and awning windows and clad sliding doors.

                    1980s

                    1980s

                    Pella opens a new facility in Carroll, Iowa and the leadership is cutting a ceremonious red ribbon.

                      1983 – The company’s first U.S. manufacturing plant outside of Pella opens in Carroll, Iowa.

                      The Pella logo in its original state, created in 1988.

                        1988 – The Pella logo is born with its hallmark yellow and black color scheme shortly before the Rolscreen Company officially rebrands as Pella Corporation in 1992.

                          1993 – Pella products are now available at several national and regional home improvement centers, including Lowe’s.

                            2000 – Pella Corporation is named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” by Fortune magazine for the first time.

                                    2017 – Pella Architect Series Reserve™, our finest line of wood windows and patio doors, is now available and includes contemporary designs.

                                    The integrated rolscreen is shown on a single black double-hung window that's open.

                                      2018 – The award-winning Integrated Rolscreen in windows is launched on Pella Reserve - Traditional double-hung windows.

                                      Pella's Easy Slide Operator is demonstrated on a black casement window.

                                        2020 – The revolutionary Easy-Slide Operator window hardware allows homeowners to easily slide to open a window instead of cranking.

                                          2022 – The industry's first Hidden Screen for vinyl windows launches on Pella 250 Series.

                                          A construction worker is installing a new window using the Steady Set installation system.

                                            2024 – The award-winning Pella® Steady Set™ interior installation system revolutionizes the industry.

                                            The Pella 100-year logo featuring the number 100 and the text "Established 1925".

                                              2025 – Pella celebrates our 100th anniversary of creating high-quality windows and doors for every project.
