1925 – Pete and Lucille Kuyper invest in a Des Moines, Iowa based company producing the Rolscreen® retractable screen

1930s

1934 – Redesigned venetian blinds are granted a new patent.

1937 – Pella debuts its first window, the Deluxe Casement window with a built-in Rolscreen and numerous other features

1943 – Amid wartime labor shortages, half of factory workers were women who were paid the same wage as men.

1950 – The multi-purpose window is introduced and can be used as a casement or awning window.

1951 – The Pella Wood Folding Door is released, featuring wood-laminated panels hinged by torsion springs.

1964 – Invention of the industry's first tilting double-hung window for easy cleaning

1965 – World’s first window with between-the-glass-blinds

1971 – The company introduces its first aluminum-clad window and door product line with pivot, casement and awning windows and clad sliding doors.

1993 – The first Kaizan was held to mark the beginning of a company-wide program for continuous improvement

1995 – Precision Fit® pocket replacement windows install quickly and easily with little mess

2000 – Industry’s first casement window crank with fold-away handle

2003 – Impervia windows, made of our proprietary fiberglass, are introduced

2003 – Pella improves its between-the-glass blinds and shades by making them cordless so they're safer for children and pets

2009 – Industry’s first high-altitude insulating glass with argon

2010s

2011 – Industry’s first front doors to be rated for air and water performance

2016 – Expansive multi-slide and bifold patio doors are added to the product portfolio, delivering more options to our customers

2017 – Reserve™ - Traditional and Contemporary windows and doors are introduced, showcasing authentic designs with uncompromised attention to detail

2018 – The Integrated Rolscreen® retractable screen, a screen that appears when the window is opened and rolls out of sight when closed, is announced

2020 – Revolutionary Easy Slide Operator window hardware replaces crank, allowing homeowners to easily slide the hardware to open and close a window

2022 – Industry's first and only Hidden Screen for vinyl windows

2023 – The easy-to-use Hidden Screen is added to Pella Lifestyle Series wood windows

2024 – Industry’s first interior installation system, Pella Steady Set™ Interior Installation System
