Large Windows and Doors Frame Colorado Landscape

New windows and doors add beauty, ventilation and durability in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs offers an enjoyable climate and unbeatable mountain views for homeowners who love the outdoors. Nestled near the base of May’s Peak, the home is surrounded by the mountain’s natural beauty. That’s why Comito Building and Design wanted to prioritize windows and doors that not only frame those breathtaking views but also stand up to the elements year-round. When they set out to create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection for a new build, they turned to Pella Mountain View for a solution that balances durability, energy efficiency and stunning design.

Awning Kitchen Windows Enhance Air Flow in Colorado Springs Home

We developed a custom solution to make this modern kitchen feel even more connected to the outdoors – a large awning window that frames the Colorado mountain trees. It’s nearly twice the size of a standard awning window, letting in lots of natural light and fresh air while adding a sleek, open feel over the sink. Hinged at the top and opened with a fold-away crank, the new kitchen window is easy to operate. In the dining room, awning windows are also used for additional ventilation. These windows provide excellent air circulation throughout the day, keeping the family cool and comfortable while they enjoy a meal together.

A French sliding patio door was also installed in the dining area enhancing the indoor-outdoor connection. When the four-panel door is open, a cool breeze keeps the dining and kitchen area well-ventilated. These wood windows and doors use dual-colored frames, allowing the builders to customize the interior and exterior finishes. They selected an unfinished interior which can be painted or stained on site to complement the modern kitchen design, especially the marble countertops.

Expansive Windows Make Ideal Addition to Nature-Inspired Great Room

The great room was designed to blend seamlessly with nature, giving the homeowners a front-row seat to the stunning scenery—all from the comfort of their home. Our team suggested a one-of-a-kind window combination to create a seamless transition between the two spaces. We combined three picture windows with two awning windows in a statement piece designed to capture the outdoor views with minimal sightlines. The expansive windows frame the mountain landscape, eliminating the need for additional decoration, as they serve as the main artistic focal point. Additionally, these windows use Advanced Low-E Insulating Glass to reflect heat and block the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, keeping the furniture in the great room from fading over time.

Wood Windows and Sliding Patio Doors Provide Lasting Durability

To keep these wood windows and doors in great condition, Pella uses EnduraClad®, a durable, low maintenance aluminum cladding. This protective coating helps to keep our wood products resistant to fading, chalking and abrasions that may happen from daily wear and tear. Also, this exterior layer protects the wooden frames against the extreme elements faced in Colorado Springs, ensuring they do not rot or corrode overtime.

In all, the clients and new homeowners are very pleased with the wood window and door solutions. The new construction selections perfectly complement the surrounding nature views, while keeping the home comfortable throughout the changing Colorado Springs seasons. As experts in the area, we can ensure these products will have lasting beauty and energy efficiency throughout their lifetime.
