Modern Windows and Doors Elevate Garden of the Gods Home

Sleek black windows and doors frame panoramic views of Colorado rock formations.

Located in the foothills of the Garden of the Gods, this new construction home features breathtaking views of the red rock formation. The builders, Comito Building & Design, created a neutral-colored masterpiece featuring a stucco and stone exterior, exposed wood siding and indoor-outdoor entertaining spaces. The builders trusted the expertise of our Pella Mountain View team to provide window and door solutions that match their home’s design and craftsmanship.

Large Glass Doors Open Home to Stunning Mountain View

We recommended a mix of sliding, multi pocket and hinged patio doors to enhance the home’s natural views and bring in more light. Expansive multi-slide patio doors that pocket into the wall were designed for the living room to open the home, creating a seamless transition to the outdoors. Where wall space was limited, we leveraged stacking multi-slide patio doors for a similar effect. These patio doors widen the living spaces, creating a sense of openness for the new homeowners. The primary bedroom features a triple sliding door which glides along a track, connecting the interior and exterior spaces. In the dining room we paired a sliding patio door with transom windows for a floor-to-ceiling glass design. This architectural feature enhances the home’s mountain views and adds additional natural light.

Our team installed brown Pella Reserve patio doors for their sophisticated wood features and customizations. They complement the home’s color palette and mountain views with their dark brown exteriors, which create a stark contrast against the stucco and stone. The interior frames arrived unfinished allowing our clients to paint them on site, customizing them to match the wooden floors and light-colored furniture.

A Variety of Modern Windows Add Lots of Natural Light into this Colorado Springs Home

Along with the large patio doors featured along the back of the home, our team recommended mixing different window types and materials to achieve the builder’s functional and aesthetic goals for the new construction home. These windows ranged from small, clerestory windows positioned toward the ceiling to let in natural light, to large picture windows which frame the gorgeous mountain landscape. Fixed windows, also known as picture windows, use expansive glass panels that are non-operable, making them the ideal energy efficient choice. They are featured throughout the home in areas such as the bedrooms, bathrooms, basement and lounge areas. Additionally, we installed casement windows, which open for ventilation and are used in the exercise rooms and bedrooms to keep the home cool and comfortable. We used a mix of modern window materials, sizes and product lines to achieve the unique goals the builders had for each room while creating a cohesive design throughout the home.

Customized Glass Options Protect Home from UV Rays in Colorado Springs

Our team recommended using specific glass options for energy efficiency and to meet elevation requirements. We recommended Sun Defense™ Low-E Insulating Glass to protect against the sun’s harmful ultraviolet light. Its specialty coating reflects heat and blocks harmful rays, helping to lower heating and cooling costs. Even with all the expansive glass featured throughout the home, the future owners will not have to worry about fading furniture and hot rooms. To meet elevation requirements, our team installed high-altitude glass because the home is located over 6,000 feet above sea level. High altitude glass helps prevent over pressurization in the windows.

The builders were thrilled to have a variety of window and door options that allowed them to customize their selection, matching their design vision and functional needs. Our clients relied on the expertise of Pella Mountain View to provide window and door solutions to meet this home’s specific needs. The future owners will enjoy energy efficiency and beautiful red rocks views for years to come.
