Trapezoid Windows Enhance Mountain Modern Home

To capture these views and complement the light-brown stucco exterior, our clients worked with Pella Mountain View to select the ideal mix of windows and sliding patio doors.

Our clients were looking for a window and patio door solution that would stand out against the mountain backdrop. A pre-finished black exterior and unfinished interior were the ideal combination to create strong visual contrast against the exterior and match the modern interior finishes. Black windows and patio doors provide a low maintenance solution to these new homeowners by showing less wear and tear over time, compared to lighter colors. The dark color paired with our aluminum cladding withstands the tough Colorado elements, increasing their longevity.

To enhance the mountain modern design, a mix of trapezoid and rectangular windows were used throughout the home. We were able to create a unique design feature for the home by using Pella Lifestyle Series special shape windows. The trapezoid windows, located in the vaulted ceiling, follow the modern roofline helping to maximize light and views for the new homeowners. This unique shape mimics mountain peaks and enhances the architectural design throughout the home.

We also paired traditional rectangular picture windows to create minimal sightlines and unobstructed Rocky Mountain views. Plus, they allow an abundance of natural light to enter the living space, making the home feel brighter and more spacious.

Black sliding patio doors in three and four panel configurations were an ideal choice for a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. These doors glide open effortlessly, making them easy for everyone in the family to use. Plus, since they slide along a track instead of swinging into the room, homeowners don’t have to worry about rearranging furniture to make space.

Black windows and doors enhance this modern mountain home by maximizing light and scenic views.
