Replacement Windows for Soccer Press Box in Edmond

In the bustling world of collegiate sports, every detail counts when it comes to providing an exceptional game-day experience for players, coaches and fans alike. The Pella of Oklahoma team had the privilege of contributing to this experience through a project in Edmond: the replacement of windows for a soccer press box. Tasked with ensuring unobstructed visibility of the field while enhancing energy efficiency and aesthetics, our team utilized a combination of vinyl and fiberglass windows.

The primary objective of this project was clear: to provide unobstructed visibility of the soccer field from the press box. With this in mind, we selected a mixture of vinyl and fiberglass windows. On the front of the box, we installed two large picture windows with a single-hung window between them. We went with Pella Impervia fixed windows as they can be as large as 70 square feet. Furthermore, we intentionally left off any grilles, blinds or shades to maximize the visibility of the field. The single-hung window opens so those in the press box can hear the noise and excitement of the game. They can also enjoy fresh autumn air, as collegiate soccer is usually played during the fall semester. 

On both sides of the box, we recommended custom windows that follow the incline of the roof. This choice accentuates the box's unique shape while maximizing sightlines for reporters, commentators and officials. Parallel to the roofline, the windows gradually grow in height from the back of the box to the front. The windows are tallest at the spots closest to the field, offering a prime viewpoint of the game.  

One of the key challenges we faced was balancing the need for large windows with the desire to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature regardless of Oklahoma’s weather conditions. Fortunately, the energy-efficient properties of vinyl and fiberglass, as well as Low-E glass, proved to be invaluable in this regard. These properly installed windows provide excellent insulation, effectively sealing out drafts and minimizing heat transfer. This helps ensure a comfortable environment for occupants even on the hottest game days.

Beyond functionality, aesthetics also played a crucial role in the selection of replacement windows for the press box. The varied window configurations and black finishes not only met the practical requirements of the project but also contributed to the box's updated look and visual appeal. The sleek sightlines and modern style of the replacement windows breathe new life into the structure, enhancing its overall appearance.

Not only do these windows provide great visibility of the field, but they also contribute to improved energy efficiency and aesthetics, elevating the overall ambiance of the stadium.
