Wood Windows Create Peaceful Environment at Virtua Birthing Center

The Virtua Birthing Center in Voorhees, New Jersey, wanted to bring this vision to life at every touchpoint. Together, the builder, Rycon Construction; architect firm, Kitchen & Associates; and our team recommended Pella® Lifestyle Series wood windows for the exceptional sound control and privacy they provide.

From preparation to delivery to a sleeping new baby, parents don't have to worry about unwanted noise with Pella Lifestyle Series windows. While the rest of the center features triple-pane units with hinged glass, the birthing rooms feature 5mm/3mm STC-insulated glass. The varying thicknesses of the glass help dampen sounds at different frequencies, allowing for better sound control and an even quieter environment for parents and their newborn babies.

To create a secluded, comforting environment, the between-the-glass blinds can easily be closed. The grilles are placed inside the insulated glass panes, while the blinds can be accessed through a hinged glass panel. This allows the patient to easily control the amount of light that shines in, and it also makes window cleaning easier for the center's staff.

The center was also able to make each casement window look like a double-hung. A 2-inch exterior muntin bar was applied to make the fixed casement windows deliver on the beautiful look of double-hung units.

With these contributions, the windows help create a welcoming, peaceful space for new parents, and most importantly, their new bundles of joy.
