As one of the top golf courses in South Carolina, Cougar Point Golf Club members were looking to experience the resort lifestyle in a newly built clubhouse. To achieve the owners’ vision of Colonial Revival style, they enlisted Robert A.M. Stern Architects and Pella of South Carolina. These experts, came together as one, to envision large colonial pillars and breathtaking shuttered windows paired with dormers, all adding colonial formality to the gathering place. With this plan in mind, we exercised our traditional window expertise to bring this vision to life.
Customized Windows Help Colonial Revival Vision Come to Life
To preserve the architectural integrity of the Colonial Revival style, our team installed Pella Reserve — Traditional wood windows. With specially crafted detailing and putty profiles, this product line was the ideal solution, helping to recreate historically accurate angles and providing meaningful depth and realistic shadows. We customized a selection of fixed casements with unique bottom rails to achieve the architect's design.
Impact Resistant Glass Adds Valuable Protection to Clubhouse
With its coastal location, Cougar Point Golf Club was built to withstand the inclement weather experienced on the island. In order to provide added safety and security measures, our team proposed using impact-resistant glass. Impact-resistant glass has an extremely strong polymer layer, located between the two panes of glass, holding the glass together, even if it shatters.
Oversized Windows Add an Abundance of Natural Light into Common Spaces
Natural light floods the clubhouse seating area through thoughtfully placed aluminum-clad wood windows. The oversized, fixed casement windows feature expansive glass panels that frame stunning fairway views. Throughout the day, the abundant sunlight enhances the space's architectural elements, particularly highlighting the dramatic wooden beams above. Our clients loved the design flexibility and ability to use natural light as a connection to the outdoors. In all, both the club members and architects adored the window selection. They were pleased with the historical details and all-weather performance of Pella Reserve — Traditional windows.
