Our team had the pleasure of partnering with Bull Stockwell Allen Architecture on a large, complex project at Spruce Peak, a luxury slopeside resort in Stowe, Vermont. We were tasked with installing commercial windows and doors that not only feature modern capabilities but also seamlessly blend with the classic ski lodge style. To achieve a timeless look while withstanding the mountain elements, our team at Pella of Vermont recommended a mix of Pella Reserve — Traditional products with custom aluminum-clad exteriors.

Red Windows Complement Timber Frame Building at Spruce Peak

The timber frames are the main architectural feature at Spruce Peak. With this in mind, the builders sought windows and doors that would match that style while providing the right functionality. We assisted the architects in selecting Pella Reserve windows for their rich wood interiors, customizable colors and durable aluminum-clad exteriors. Additionally, we suggested creating a one-of-a-kind aluminum-clad color, Pioneer Red. Pella Reserve was the ideal solution because of the ability to create basically any color option architects need to bring their visions to life. The red windows make a bold statement against the timber frames and expansive mountain views. This specialty color adds unique flair to the building facade while creating a welcoming environment for the resort. Visitors can enjoy a day out on the slopes or hiking up Mount Mansfield, and end their day cozied up next to a fire elegantly complemented by the red windows.

Wood Windows Offer Outstanding Durability Reducing Callbacks

As the “ski capital of the East,” Stowe is known for its extreme snowfalls and chilly temperatures. These architects and builders needed windows that were durable and weather protected all year-round to withstand the extreme conditions. Understanding the importance of strong windows, these clients enlisted our help. Leveraging the team’s expertise, we recommended using wood windows for their exceptional quality and durability. These windows are dipped in EnduraGuard® wood protection to shield against the effects of moisture, decay and stains, ensuring their longevity in the harsh elements of Vermont. With no drafts or leaks, our windows are quality assured, lowering the probability for callbacks — allowing contractors to move on to the next project without concerns. Additionally, the red windows feature a long-lasting, low-maintenance EnduraClad® aluminum cladding on the exterior, where their protective finishes meet performance requirements of AAMA 2604. No matter the extreme weather conditions, these builders can trust that their commercial windows and doors remain strong, serving the needs of Spruce Peak.

Low-E Advanced Insulating Glass Increases Strength in High Altitude Areas

Situated at over 4,000 feet, Spruce Peak Village Center required windows and doors with multiple glass options to meet their unique specifications. Our team proposed an innovative solution by adding high altitude, insulating tempered and Low-E advanced glass to all the windows and doors throughout the building.

The high-altitude glass uses argon gas to ensure the pressure level is tailored for the higher elevations experienced in Northern Vermont. With insulating tempered glass, enhanced durability and strength are achieved to withstand extreme conditions. Our advanced Low-E insulating glass protects the inside from harmful ultraviolet rays, preventing the high-end furniture and flooring in this building from fading. Our experts and Bull Stockwell Allen Architecture continue to develop a trusted relationship through our innovative products, tailored solutions and collaboration, leading to breathtaking buildings that withstand the test of time.
