Project Details

The historic riverside town of West Springfield, Massachusetts has many neighborhoods featuring older, traditional homes. We met with the homeowners of this beautiful 1953 brick home that required upgraded living room windows. The existing metal windows lacked energy efficiency and were very difficult to open. We recommended a new Pella Lifestyle Series bow window for its excellent performance and customizability.

Red Bow Window Adds Charm to Brick Home

Bow windows are comprised of four or more windows of the same size, formed to create a curve that extends outside the exterior of the home. They are common in traditional-style houses and offer timeless elegance. The unobstructed panes of glass offer clear views of the outdoors while also providing a more up-to-date aesthetic. The new window provides ample natural light and airflow while adding a unique feel to the space and fits seamlessly into the previous spot to become a focal point of the front living room.

Metal Windows Replaced by Energy-Efficient Wood Windows

The previous metal windows were extremely difficult to open and proved to be a huge hassle for the homeowners. The metal also conducted heat quickly, meaning these windows offered little insulation to the home. During the removal process, the old windows had to be carefully cut to ensure that the trim and slate sills were not damaged. Our experts dedicated the time and precision needed to successfully remove the old windows before installing the new windows. They are not only easier to operate but also provide more natural insulation for the home, which could help the homeowners save on energy costs. These windows help maintain more comfortable temperatures inside the home. With the simple turn of a crank, the homeowners can enjoy Massachusetts' fresh coastal air.

Wood Windows Offer the Most Custom Color Capabilities

The old aluminum windows clashed with the red brick exterior, drawing unwanted attention to the outdated products. Choosing clad-wood for the new windows offered the most customization abilities, meaning we could color-match red windows. The dark red complements the warm tones of the home’s exterior. Exterior aluminum cladding on the bow window ensures lasting beauty with color retention and resistance to chalking and fading.

The transformation of this bow window significantly upgraded the aesthetic of this traditional style home. The homeowners are stunned by the beautiful new feel of the space and are pleased by how well the red color complements the home’s exterior. Our experts were happy to assist the homeowners in their mission to up their home’s curb appeal. In addition to a new look, the homeowners enjoy easy-to-use wood windows instead of their old metal ones.
