Project Details

At Pella Windows and Doors of Western Washington, we recently took on a transformative project that highlights the beauty and functionality of Pella Reserve wood casement windows. In a picturesque Seattle home, we replaced a single large picture window with three casement windows, bringing enhanced airflow and aesthetic appeal to the home.

Casement Windows Welcome Seattle’s Mild Temps

The main reason for replacing this large picture window was that the homeowner wanted to open their living room windows and allow fresh air to flow in. If you live in this area, you know that many homes do not have air conditioning due to Seattle’s mild climate. The new casement windows, which can swing open just a crack or to a fully open position, allow the homeowner to control the amount of fresh air coming into the house. They now enjoy a refreshing northern Pacific breeze anytime they wish.

Top Row Grilles Maintain Charming Craftsman Character

In replacing their existing window, the homeowner hoped to preserve the charming craftsman look of their living room. Embracing warm wood tones and workmanship characteristic of craftsman style, the original window had a wood-stained interior with a Top Row grille pattern. Vertical grilles in the upper portion of the window accentuated the tall proportions that are typical of craftsman windows. The new windows mimic the existing look, maintaining the natural warmth of wood with Integral Light Technology® grilles. These grids are permanently bonded to the inside and outside of the glass, casting a realistic shadow like individual windowpanes would. This gives the most authentic look of true-divided-light, without compromising on energy efficiency. After the installation, the homeowners also chose to hand-stain the interior of the wood windows themselves and the resulting finish blends seamlessly with the existing trim work around the home.

As requested by the homeowners, the living room remains as cozy as ever, with new windows that look like the original design. The new craftsman windows with grilles allow for increased airflow while preserving the timeless elegance of the home. At Pella of Western Washington, we take pride in offering customizable solutions that combine functionality with exquisite craftsmanship. This project showcases our commitment to transforming spaces while working closely with homeowners to achieve their unique visions.
