When Jason and Lindsay Mollak of Omaha, Nebraska, started designing their 5,000-square-foot home for their family of seven, they had two main priorities: lasting quality and energy efficiency. They chose Pella Reserve – Contemporary wood windows for the beauty, craftsmanship and sustainability they desired. For eight years, the couple has worked with the same Pella Sales Rep on a number of other projects. From past experience, they felt confident relying on Pella for dedicated support.

The Mollaks have a lot on their plate with a large family and a thriving business, so they turned to Pella to help lighten their workload.
"We handed them the plans and they figured out the rest...It puts less pressure on us when there is already so much to do." — Jason Mollak.
Large, Custom Wood Windows Maximize Natural Light
While the Mollaks’ floor plan was on the more traditional side, they wanted to incorporate modern elements‚ including windows. They chose Pella Reserve – Contemporary wood windows for the sleek lines, expansive sightlines and natural light they wanted for their lively family home.
“The Pella Reserve – Contemporary line really went with the aesthetic and style of the home that we’re trying to achieve,” Lindsay said. “The simple elements that many won’t notice are what make these windows look great. We love the matte finishes, stainless steel hardware and square corners on the exterior.”
The Mollaks wanted to create as much natural light in their space as possible, so they included 25 large, custom-sized windows with unique elevations.
“We love natural light and have a great view out back, so we wanted to plan our windows around that. Large full-glass windows helped achieve the goal,” Jason said. “Custom sizes helped us maintain our original plans without compromise.”
While style was extremely important, proven quality was a major draw for the Mollaks.
“With Pella, we always know we’re going to get quality. It’s definitely higher-end quality compared to other manufacturers,” Lindsay said. “You can tell the operation, hardware and finishes are all designed with care.”
Energy-Efficient Windows Bring Year-Round Comfort and Savings
With five kids, maintaining a manageable heating and cooling bill was a top priority for the Mollaks. They had learned from working on other home projects that Pella offered several energy-efficient windows named ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient or Passive House–certified. “Efficiency is very important to us. We’ve been in many homes and you can truly feel the difference between spaces that are efficient and those that aren’t. When we’d ask homeowners what their windows were, Pella was frequently mentioned,” Lindsay said.
Dedicated Window Installation Support
With the construction industry still facing a labor shortage, finding tradespeople like window installers can be difficult. But the Mollaks knew that the intuitive installation design of Pella windows, plus clear installation instructions and jobsite support, would make the install process smooth and straightforward.
“The biggest thing I can say about Pella is, they make it easy,” Jason said. “Sourcing installers is tough. Plus, ordering windows is a huge task. Knowing Pella can help handle it means there’s less pressure on us.”

Custom Sizes
Large window combinations create an incredible aesthetic and bring in lots of natural light, but they also come with structural challenges. Pella’s robust mulling capabilities allowed the Mollaks to create stunning combinations with structural integrity to avoid leaks, handle strong winds and provide impressive energy efficiency.
Energy Efficiency
Heating and cooling a large, 5,000-square-foot home can be a challenge – structurally and financially. Pella Reserve wood windows are Passive House-certified, meaning they’re engineered to obtain aggressive energy efficiency and comfort, eliminate drafts and leaks and reduce the ecological footprint of a building.
